Comparing children is never a great tool to measure progress. In fact when you compare you cause strain in the relationships of your children and not only that,  you begin to develop negative feelings towards a child you believe is not matching up to your standard.

This child will begin to doubt her/ his capability . If you notice a child is not doing well enough, encourage and keep reassuring that child. It will go a long way in helping him/ her deal with the weaknesses . Above all look out for a gift or talent that is specific that child and celebrate that rather than dwelling on the negatives.Children thrive in an atmosphere of love and acceptance.  Create that for them.

Prevent childhood trauma:

Violence in the home, child abuse ( emotionally and sexually) , neglect and abandonment, loss of a parent or someone significant all contribute to childhood trauma.

Dear parents, as much as lies in your power prevent the ones you can. Childhood  trauma affect a child’s self esteem and self worth and not all of them will develop resilience to  recover or bounce back to normal life quickly.

For those who can’t bounce back, they use alcohol and drugs to cope with their pain.

May God keep our children and May we not fail as parents too.
